HIH Trick Video Archives Part Deux
The first batch of content to make it's way into the new site template is our trick video archives. For many moons, these poor beautiful gems have been buried in the bowels of the forum. It's time we let them out. You can see where I'm heading by
giving this a click-o, or choose it from the menu item on the left there on the front page. Some of the archives look great just as they are, and others will need some work to make them look nice outside the forum. Frankly though, many needed work anyhow, and this will give us the excuse. Still, it's coming along nicely.

I just noticed that the layout of mine looks awful too, at least on the main page. I guess it has to do with the HTML formatting on the mainpage, instead of the BBCode for forums.
Just tell me what to do / change at the formatting to make it look nicer, I'm not that experienced with this.
I could also take some of the other archives, edit them at an old post of mine to give them a better layout, and an Admin just drags the edited post over, which I send via PM or so.
Edit: Also, Kaspersky tells me that I got a Trojan everytime I click on the "Frogblast Utfoo Mirror" link.
Edit2: Some of the texts in the HIH Interviews Section are written in white color, probably because they were gotten from the old forums, but you can hardly read it on almost white ground. Just change the the color to the usual blue, it's not much work, I guess.
Edit3: The HIH staff link seems not to work, for some reason. Don't get me wrong, I dont search for those stuffs to nag, it's just some things that could be fixed to make it look / work better.
Edit4: All in all it's still great, though :)

Yes, many of them look like crap (most of all mine) for this very reason. It's because we've tried to make them all fancy in the forum with special fonts and colors. Those that didn't do that look great in the site template. See, the template obeys the BBcode, and renders the sizes and colors.
What we need to do is strip all of that crap out of the archives, and they'll look great. We'll get to that - no worries. I'm going to work on a couple, and then we can use those as examples.

That makes no sense to me. The utfoo site is simply a mirror of a basic-as-you-can-get HTML site that's been unchanged for literally years. You need to send me a screenshot or something. [email">ducain@gmail.com[/email">.

I've got that link down for now because the current staff contact is older than Moses, and totally wrong in many cases. We'll redo it.

Zman - Only a select group has access to that area, but don't worry. As I said, I'm going to update a few and get the look right - heck, might do them all. But if I need some people to pitch in, I'll make an announcement and we'll hook it up.

Fuck this means I have to start Archiving again.
There's a video or two missing from my archive, for whatever reason my AOTCR cutscene fun video didn't make it in there. Really my archive (and probably some others too) need to be edited, there's a whole bunch of dead mythica links in there. I should probably get to work and upload all my videos to youtube as well.

Same, heh, my best vids are not in there and all those Mythica links. I think that bugs me more than anything else. As much as I loved Mythica......let's let it go.
Those good old HIH mirrors saved more than one of my vids over the years, to me they are sacred. Will new stuff added to individual archives be mirrored?
Just a few notes here:
1. I really need to get you guys the ability to edit your archives. That being said, I just want the links and content edited, not the layout so much because we may have to gut much of that anyway. We'll work on this.
2. I fly out to NM tomorrow for work, and I'm not sure how much I'll be available this week. I'm back home next Friday.
3. Grumpy - YES, my goal is that anything in our archives has an HIH link - period. And when you mentioned that I realized I didn't do that at ALL for HB's new archive we added. Crap. I'll get on it.
A QUESTION: About YouTube - I'm all for uploading vids to YT (except that the quality often blows), but are vids uploaded to YT available forever? How do we know the links won't die?
We never know if a Youtube Link holds up for long. A while ago, my and grumpy's old YT Channel were banned because of the copyright. Around 200 Vids were gone.

Crap - that answers it for me. I'd rather host a backup of anything we want to keep. I don't have the huge bandwidth pipeline others do, but I've got loads of storage space, and could add more.

Wait....we have to put YT links in our archives in order to be mirrored anyway so are you going to leave both. Do we provide forum links or will a mod do that? Or we could do FileFront for better quality on new vids for you to mirror, idk, you know best.

I'm not sure I follow all of that. I don't care what's in the archive, as long as each video includes an HIH Link, which I'll help create.
